Football season has started! Football parties mean munchies, and this one is super quick and easy to throw together whether you’re attending a big viewing party, or just hanging out on your own couch with the family. It’s salty, and cheesy, and creamy, and bacony, and crunchy, and just plain good.
I’m not sure why it’s called Neiman Marcus Dip. My guess is that they served it in their cafes at some point. It’s one of those recipes that popped up in my Pinterest feed ages ago, and I finally got around to trying it. There are a gazillion different recipes for it online, so it makes sense to add another one, right? Oh well…I thought it was worth sharing, so hopefully you’ll see my recipe as something new and exciting, and give it a try.
The recipe I found called for a jar of bacon bits. You could use those if you’d like, but I have this (probably not so abnormal) aversion to meat in jars/cans. I’m sure it’s perfectly fine, but it just kind of gives me the heebie jeebies. Instead of using the jarred stuff, I decided to cook up eight strips of bacon and call it a day. So, once the bacon was nice and crisp, I chopped it up, along with a few green onions.
Once those were chopped up, I mixed them together in a large bowl with some mayonnaise, cheddar cheese, and some slivered almonds. You don’t even have to toast the almonds! That’s how easy this is! None of that “Oh my gosh, I can’t believe I burnt the almonds. One second they were fine, and the next second they were burnt into sizzled little bits. I only turned around for a second!” No worries. Perfectly pale almonds are acceptable here.
I made sure it was well combined, gave it a little salt and pepper to round things out, and popped it into the fridge to chill until we were ready to munch on it.
That’s it. Done.
It’s that easy.
When we were ready to eat, I scooped the dip into a bowl and served it with crackers.
Again…that’s it.
Seriously. You can even make it a day ahead of time.
This dip is so good. If it’s not on Neiman Marcus’ menu, it should be. It’s a little bit of easy cheesy heaven on a cracker.
